Pièces de résistance: Cape Town Fashion Week 2011 [Day 2]

Written by . Posted in Blog, Events, Fashion Shows, Features.

By definition, pièce de résistance is the principal or most outstanding item in a series or creative artist’s work. Pièce de résistance is a new feature on HFA that highlights the pieces we find most outstanding in a collection that shows off the designer’s creativity and expertise.

Why: It corporates a little bit of everything… floral appliques fluttering down the skirt of the dress, soft lace and little white buttons add a touch of sophistication to ripped effect of the overall fabric. And that head dress… the feathers, flowers and texture…glamourous!

Why: Free-flowing unstated maxi glamour at its best

Why: The tribal print high waist harem pants is a welcome variation from the dresses and tastefully paired with a black tube top.

Why: We like a man in uniform. While this isn’t quite a uniform, it’s inspired by yummy uniformed men- sailors!

Why: The vibrant colour and soft prints adds an iridescent style to the swimwear collection adn is a good alternative to a sarong.

Why: The menswear is a pleasant departure from the norm, has a beautiful colour palette selection and we love the asymmetrical print of the maxi dress – always figure flattering.
