South Africa Fashion Week: Tiaan Nagel Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 Collection
Tiaan Nagel’s show definitely left everyone astounded, guests at the show couldn’t stop talking about the evident strict attention to detail and ground-breaking tailoring experienced at the show. Tiaan’s A/W collection for us headlined the seas0n; first, considering that he implemented Greys, Blacks and Whites without screaming monochrome but delivering a clever execution of dark tones. Secondly, at first we were thinking is this ethereal? or is it pointing towards couture? We loved that it wasn’t the usual tailoring we are used to, it was cocoon and it was boxy tailoring.. we didn’t frown at that, we were basking in the playfulness of the exposed zippers and over-sized pockets.
We got excited when we noticed the linen accents at the show, but then it wasn’t just linen, there were chiffon/rayon silhouettes under-laid with linen and some some cotton, the unusual collars added an edge to the work-wear inspired pieces. Something interesting we took away with us, there was some fabric shredding detailing on some of the pieces just as we spotted at the Arise show in NY.
