Written by . Posted in Blog, Features, Spring/Summer, Trends.

London Fashion Week 2011 has now been and gone with the fashion party continuing onto South Africa. Scores of designers have flooded our minds with delicious designs and ingenous innovations though we had to maintain a strong focus (not only on the male models from MaXhosa) to be able to bring forth to you the trends for the Spring/Summer seasons. Wanting to stay ahead of everyone elses wardrobe? Well now’s the time to go and fetch a pen and pad as we reveal a few of the noticeable Spring/Summer trends from LFW, seen in some of our favourite African designers:

Draw me in: Traditional African inspired oversized gowns/Kaftans/dresses, drawn in with a cute Obi belt:

Cut outs are looking like their here to stay, so come on…don’t be afraid to show a little extra skin:

As witnessed at NYFW, LFW adds further proof to the re-emergence of knee length 50’s full swing skirts, pack away those minis girls:

Taking the plunge: male and female fashion lovers, now is the time to take the plunge. Don’t feel frightened to show some flirty and fun- front on skin:

The new prim: Spring/Summer is asking you to bring out those high neck blouses and button up those shirts, time to prim and proper- it -up:

Sweet yellow: Any shade will do, but yellow is slithering its way back into the Spring/Summer hues of choice as Tiffany and Bunmi illustrated. There’s nothing wrong with standing out:

Lace Lovin’: Whip out your lace from last years season and re-vamp it to suit the occasion. Lace paired with print, solid block colours or left on its own, can suit any Spring day.

Plenty ‘o print: Tribal print has been managing to make its way through every season, though this Spring/Summer will see an even greater explosion of this trend, particularly print on print:

Warm Earth Tones; Hues in shades of brown, forest greens, nudes and copper breathing naturalness for the Spring-Summer season.

All Orange or Nothing: Shades of tangerine orange and bright orange have significantly had a strong influence on runways across  continents in the last couple of weeks proving to be one of  S/S 2012’s main colour.
