Africa Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 Collection: [Day 1, Duo 1] Mataano, Tart

Written by . Posted in Blog, Fashion Shows, Features.

Sweet Florals and  Tropicana burst free from the runway during Mataano’s reveal of her S/S 2012 collection. Corals, nudes and pastel blues were also thrown in completing that overall summer vibe.  Tiered holiday dresses,  full length play suits and maxis, a little bit of crochet and of course the well popular “bra top” were all thrown in the mix, with the recurring low slung square neck-line appearing as a common trend throughout. Lots of viscose, cotton and stretch polyester dominating the fabric choice, giving the chance for feminine and playful cuts along with complementing silhouettes. If this collection doesn’t put you in holiday mode, I don’t know what will.

TART:

Tart show us that ‘once you go black you really don’t go back’, with this S/S 2012 Collection showcasing a range of styles and  fabrics all in the hue of black. Each piece manages to ooze sex appeal with most accentuating the female figure to its fullest. We see Maxi dresses, sequinned skirts, crochetted dresses, and boxy leather numbers all making their way down the runway in Summer cuts, -overarching the fact that no ‘Summery colours’ are presented. Although this collection is only made up of one hue (apart from the one emerald green Maxi) dont be too quick to attribute it to the Gothic scene. Tart doesn’t fail in delivering a message of class, femininity and strength for the wearer.

Absolutely loving the figure hugging, wetlook maxi with the criss-cross belt decorating the front
