MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2011 Awards Finalist: Alali Boutique by Oroma Cookey – Gam
The Nigerian fashion industry as a whole thrives on the existence of designers, models, stylists, photographers, pr consultants, retailers, textile designers, manufacturers and other creative’s in the industry who keep the cyclical wheels of the Nigerian fashion industry churning from process, product and to the final user. The MTN LFDW awards aims to promote the development, growth and promotion of creative’s in the industry by nurturing, fine tuning and harnessing their skills as well as providing them with a solid platform for achieving their goals. This year, they had twelve finalists who showed their latest designs with the use of Vlisco Dutch Wax. A bit restrictive, but not at all for these young creative talented designers scouted via various auditions across Nigeria. Alali Boutique
A lady with a penchant for fashion, Miss Oroma Cookey-Gam, Head Designer and Creative Director ALALI Boutique;One of newest and very stylish designs in the Nigerian Fashion Industry. Oroma is from Opobo Town, Rivers State Nigeria. She attended University of Northumbria, Newcastle for University (LLB Hons) but did short fashion courses at the prestigious Central St Martin College, London. She designs and make clothes part time and works in the legal department of a firm, full time. Read our interview with her here
