Paris Fashion Week: Yves Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2012
Here to present his last collection for YSL was Mr Stefano Pilati, ending a chapter with strength, style and confidence at the Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter show.
We got strong hints of Designer pride throughout this collection, an illustration to the world that this was just the beginning for YSL, with the ball continuing to roll for years to come. Each piece was full of brooding sexuality, passion and intensity artistically delivered through Pilatis choice of colours, fabrics and silhouettes…and that deep velvet lipstick added further flavour of course!
The assemblage was predominately black with occasional pops of purple and white, along with plenty of defined collars and cuffs, broad shoulders, leather trimming, sharp tailoring, belted jackets, and loose fit leather tops. Some of the pieces were accentuated with what appeared to be chain-mail pieces with Pilati also crafting sleek skirts and open-back dresses along side a glamorous white tuxedo embroidered with silver calla lilies.
Executives at YSL announced Pilati’s departure more than a week ago with Mr Hedi Slimane taking over the head post. Goodbye Pilati, you definitely went out with a fashionable bang.
