New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 [Day 4]: David Tlale

There are very few designers with the ability to surprise with each collection and David Tlale is one of such.

Though he’s known for his dramatic style, in his Spring/Summer 2013 collection he toned it down. He presented a bright colored collection in feminine silhouettes. Satin, chiffon, printed gowns and chunky jewelry. The collection had African elements as we saw from the African inspired, exaggerated turbans. Sequins, plunging necklines (for both menswear and women’s wear), finger gloves, detailed fitted trousers for men worn under long garments resembling the Jalabiyya: Tlale presented a well constructed collection with immaculate detailing.

For menswear we spotted a few feminine but wearable looks.

This collection cemented his title as a definite trend setter not only in Africa but in the world.
