Ejiro Amos-Tafiri, Mai Atafo, Maki Oh win at the Lagos Fashion & Design Week 5th Year Anniversary Awards.
The Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2015, ended its spring/summer 2016 shows with a 5th year award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the success of 5 creatives on the scene who have been consistent in fine tuning their craft and positioning their brands for success in the Nigerian fashion industry.
The Categories and winner were:
Ejiro Amos Tafiri for Outstanding Emerging Designer (Fashion and Retail).
This Category serves as a platform to inspire designers from the Lagos Fashion & Design Week Young Designer/Fashion Focus Alumni group. She also received a cheque for One Million Naira.
Mai Atafo for Menswear Designer of the year
Mai Atafo is known for his exquisite craftsmanship, for consistently raising the bar year after year, for being very passionate about training local talent, for investing funds in training his team and for being passionately involved in the growth and development of the Nigerian Fashion Industry!
Amaka Osakwe, Creative Director of Maki Oh for Womenswear Designer of the Year.
The Maki Oh brand is outstanding. It has set a mark for Nigerian fashion on a global scale, with pieces worn by FLOTUS; Michelle Obama, Actress Lupita Nyong’o, DJ and designer: Solange amongst others. But more importantly, the Creative Director has given new meaning and value, through her designs, to “Adire” our local tie and dye methodology of creating prints.
Other winners of the night included Zainab Ashadu – Accessories Designer of the Year & Kelvin Godson Effange – Model of the Year.
