Capetown Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013: [Day 3, Group 1] – Black Coal Clothing | Strato | Selfi | August | Non – European

Africa Fashion International (AFI) & Cape Town Fashion Council (CTCF) in partnership Presented a group of sponsored young designers on Friday, 27th July.

Black Coal:

Black coal focused mainly casual pieces using  jersey fabric, dominantly cobalt blue accented with either red or yellow. When it wasn’t jersey, it was denim here and there. Scoop necklines and midi lengthed numbers. Menswear pieces included in the collection; models donning denim also with hints of bright tones.

Strato:

Urban chic meets sporty chic; not the most cohesive of collections, preppy dresses and separates in the guise of off-shouldered tops paired with leggings. The menswear featured dungarees; a reference to the 80s/90s perhaps? Our standout piece would have to be the Teal Playsuit, lovely!

Selfi:

Strong peplum references within this collection as well as subtle couture hints; cobalt and warm earth tones in an unusual color-block agreement. A few airy pieces here and there, form fitting numbers and sheer yolk hints observed.

August:

Relaxed tailoring and delicate fabrics; slouchy, floaty, pieces spotted on the runway at ‘August’ as the models sashayed out in plunging necklines, chiffon blouses and printed pants.

Non – European:

Again, subtle colors observed here with pops of neon here and there; pussy bow blouses and palazzo pants. The male models were a lovely accessory considering that the colors worn were in perfect contrast  that of the ladies.
