Capetown Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013: [Day 4] – Lalesso
We found that with this collection, our attentions were more drawn to the headdresses and oversize accessories rather than the pieces; the headdresses, very reminiscent of Junya Watanabe’s Spring 2009 show where the Japanese designer focused on African Inspired headwear featuring sheathed flowers and leaves. The Lalesso show saw printed fabrics, a lot of which appeared to be digitally printed – plunging necklines, hi-lo hemlines and slouchy fits were most featured. Tones ranging from turquoise to monochromes to bright orange, a lot of which was dotted on fabrics appearing to be a mixture of colors.
The headdresses seemed to have their individuality, taking inspiration from different tribes; notable tribes from the Lalesso show include, Hindus, Native Americans, West Africans and North Africans.
