A Persian name, Jahaanara is the ‘Ornament of the World’: style that celebrates timeless royalty. Shimmering with sumptuousness, this new label represents love–a passionate love for life and all its grandeur.
The brand reinvents intricate designs and colourful imagery inspired by the Mughal Empire. Unravelling the mysteries of the palatial luxury, Jahaanara brings the princess back. Precious and pampered, but powerful.
Armed with a strong conscience, it shares its success with the artisans who translate 16th-century Indo-Persian patterns onto contemporary couture. By bringing yesterday to the present, Jahaanara ushers in a new definition of tomorrow.
Both ethnic and multi-cultural at once, Jahaanara is a reflection of its founder, Geeta Kalwani who was raised in Liberia, Geeta holds a Double Masters degree in Public Affairs from the prestigious Sciences-Po, Paris and a Masters in Public Policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School, Singapore. Young, dynamic and seeking to ‘sail beyond the sunset’, she has travelled extensively and speaks seven languages. A member of Mensa, Geeta currently lives in the UAE where she is dedicated full time to the operation and expansion of the Jahaanara while pursuing her equestrian and fine art hobbies.
With a strong belief that a girl makes a society, Geeta uses part proceeds of Jahaanara’s sales towards educating the girl-child in developing countries. Proceeds also go to the many disabled artists involved in the creating and embellishing of Jahaanara Jeans.
