Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective comes to America. See Photos from Paris!

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

The first large retrospective exhibition dedicated to Yves Saint-Laurent the fashion designer took place from the 11 March to 29 August 2010 at the Petit Palais. Now it’s crossing the border all the way to the Denver Art Museum, Denver, Colorado in America.

The exhibition will be hosted at the museum from March 25 – July 8, 2012. “The Denver Art Museum is the only venue in the US at which this show will be held, and a total of 307 haute couture and prêt-à-porter models are on show, ranging from the designer’s beginnings at Dior in 1958, with the famous “Trapèze” collection, to the splendour of the evening dresses from 2002.

The show was curated by Florence Müller and overseen by Pierre Bergé, who was YSL’s one-time romantic partner and life-long business partner.

It gets even more exciting, as there’s a twist the only way America knows how to welcome the grande exhibition to its shores, eight Project Runway Alumnis; Michael Costello, Rafael Cox, Danielle Eyerine, Mondo Guerra, Cecilia Motwani, Becky Ross, Julie Tierney, and Fallene Wells will design five looks each inspired by YSL for a runway show to take place March 30th.
